Source: 'The Pageant of Peking' by Donald Mennie (A.S.Watson and Co., Shanghai, 1920).  The gate-tower of Yongdingmen (Gate of Eternal Stability), is the central gate of the southern wall of Peking's Outer City.  It was the starting point of the major north-south axis of the city.
