Polyfoto

Polyfotos were taken in special photo booths, which, in the UK, were often in large town centre department stores. There was a Polyfoto studio in Shanghai, at 976 Bubbling Well Road. In a booth, a set of forty-eight, small sized portraits, usually head and shoulders, were taken automatically in fairly rapid succession and a proof sheet produced. Enlargements could be ordered (for example JS-s047). See moving and creative use of Polyfotos by Daniel Meadows: https://vimeo.com/113843220.
