University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Do01-09. This is most like the Hong Kong Police tug-of-war team. An Overland China Mail report of 5 March 1891, recorded that ‘The European members of the Police Force … take pride in the supremacy attained by them in tugs-of-war’.
