Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: EH-s63.  Standing, from left to right: R.C. Allen (Accountant), Eleanor Hillier, unidentified man (but not Hubbard), D. A. Johnston, name unconfirmed (possibly J.L.T. Patch). Sitting: Guy Hillier. J.A. Clark is not in this photograph.  Photograph probably taken in about 1923 in Peking – possibly outside the HSBC office.  Edward Guy Hillier (1857-1924) was manager of the Hongkong & Shanghai Bank in Peking (Beijing). The writing on the back of the photograph includes the word 'emanuensis' [sic]; this should be spelled amanuensis. See Hi-s114.
