Historical Photographs of China album reference: Hv35. Edward Bangs Drew album of carte-de-visite portraits. Subject: Born in North Yarmouth, Maine, Captain Horatio Nelson Gray (1829-1882) commanded the freight and passenger service steamer "Fire Queen" on the Yangtze River in China from 1868 until sometime in the 1870s when he returned to the United States. Provenance: Purchased from Lucy Drew, 1949. Access to original photographs and albums in the Edward Bangs Drew Collection is restricted.
