Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Jn-s30. Large group of men and boys, gathered together outside some shops at 218 Chusan Road (Zhoushan Lu). The two men in the centre (the Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala and, on his right, Kartar Singh Sangha) are garlanded with flowers. In the front row of five boys sitting, Ranjit Singh Sangha is second from the left and Harbhajan Singh Sangha is second from the right. Kartar Sangha Singh came from the village Kala Sanghian, which was a part of Kapurthala State. The maharaja used to tour the world every few years and stop by in Shanghai. Jaskaran Sangha's grandfather (Kartar Singh Sangha) and other local Sikhs used to host a dinner for him at a local hotel. See Jn-s31, Jn-s32 and Jn-s33.
