In an album (Killie Family Papers RG226) held in the Presbyterian Historical Society, Philadelphia, USA, this photograph is captioned: "In the British Legation. End view of the Front Tinger (or Pavilion). This part was usually occupied by about twenty foreign and native Catholic nuns, who were the guests of the manager of the Peking Hotel."
