Killie. Caption on typed list accompanying the box of negatives: '15: British Marine volunteer, including Sir Claude MacDonald.' Digitised from a negative made for a copy print. This group photograph includes volunteers from the Imperial Maritime Customs Service. The man in the group standing below the lamp at the front, seventh from the right, is the sinologist and collector Charles Kliene FRGS (1867-1952), compiler of 'An Anglo-Chinese Calendar for the years 1751-2000 '(1906) and author of 'Seven Stars - A Chinese Chess Ending with Three Hundred Variations' (1916). Kliene served in the Customs Service from 1884 to 1927.
