Preparations'.  Digitised from a negative made for a copy print.  Photograph by Reverend Charles A. Killie, taken in the Bristish Legation, Peking (Beijing), soon after the arrival of relief forces, and showing a large number of people (relief infantry and cavalry, as well as the recently besieged) talking with each other.  Also Chinese man carrying water; other Chinese people (probably Christian) watching.  Siege of the Legations (Boxer Uprising).
