Empress Dowager Cixi (慈禧太后) (1835 – 1908), is sitting in the middle of this group, which includes Empress Longyu, Concubine Jin, ‘Princess’ Derling, Derling's mother, wife of Cixi's nephew, Prince Qing's third and fourth daughters, Li Lianying and others, in Zhonghai, Beihai Park (Beihai Gongyuan), Peking (Beijing). Cixi is in the guise of Guanyin, the goddess of mercy - and surrounded by lotus flowers. Photograph by Yu Xunling (勋龄).
