Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: JC-s122. This bust of Luís Vaz de Camões is in Camões Grotto, Praça de Luis de Camões de Macau, Macau. Luís de Camões (or Camoens), c1524-1580, was a celebrated Portuguese poet, who wrote Os Lusíadas (The Lusiads - Soul of Portugal).  Some argue that Camões wrote part of the Lusiads in Macau – but by no means all of the epic poem. However, there is no consensus on this and some doubt that he ever went to Macau at all. More information here and here.
