University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Os-s118. Photo from the Oswald collection kept in the School of Oriental and African Studies Archives, London. The boy is wearing an American sailor hat “U. S. S. W”. Chinese babies/toddlers used to have twine/string attached to them and to the boat, to aid their rescue should the child fall in the water.
