University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: PK01-02. This photograph was taken at an unidentified location. HMS Elk (1868-1905), a Royal Navy composite screw loop, was launched in 1868, used as a tug from 1890 and sold in 1905 for use as a dredger. HMS Elk is known to have been at Hong Kong in November 1874, departing on 2 January 1875; and in Malta in April/May 1875. See http://www.pbenyon.plus.com/18-1900/E/01586.html. See PK01-01.
