Photograph by William Vacher. 'Taiping' or 'Tae-ping' (i.e. 'Heavenly Peace') was the hong of Gilman, Bowman & Co., tea traders, and the residence of William and Elizabeth Vacher. 'Tai-ping' appears to have shared a garden with Sin-tai-ping: VH02-176. More photographs of Tae-ping: VH-s01, VH01-030 (garden), VH01-050, VH02-040 (another print from the same negative, dated in the album: May 1858), VH02-073 (garden), VH02-176 (garden), VH02-177, VH02-181 and VH02-205.
