University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Fr01-109. Photograph by John Thomson. In 'Illustrations of China and its People' (1873-1874), vol II, Thomson wrote that this photograph, numbered 63 (and several variants including PF01-37) were taken "about 100 miles above Foochow, and shows the boat in which I descended the river Min for a distance of about 260 miles from its mouth, as far as the city of Yenping" See a scan of the negative (ref: 19446i) at the Wellcome Collection, and a record of lettering: 'The Rapid or Kai (Suig?) Boat'.
