Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: KA-s31. The woman on the left is Oshima Shizuco (大島静子). The man in the middle is likely the elder brother of Futakami Chitose, Abe Naoko's mother. The woman on the right, holding the fan, is Futakami Chitose, a book lover who often went to a Japanese bookshop managed by Kanzo Uchiyama, a friend of Lu Xun. The caption with this photograph was written by Abe Naoko. Hongkew Park (虹口公園 'Hongkou gongyuan') is now Lu Xun Park (鲁迅公园 'Lu Xun gongyuan'). See KA-s29.
