This photograph was reproduced in 'Dragon Fangs' by Claire and William Band (London, 1947), plate XII, and captioned: "The village of Middle Poplar where the authors lived during the summer, 1943". 'Dragon Fangs' was republished in USA as 'Two Years with the Chinese Communists' (Yale University Press, 1948). Middle Poplar is twelve miles from Fuping. This photograph was reproduced in ‘The Unknown War, North China 1937-1945' by Michael Lindsay (London, 1975), with the caption: Chun Pai Ch'a.
