This is the gate tower of the central south gate (Qianmen; Ch'ien Mên; Zhengyangmen) of the Inner City (Tartar) wall. Formerly named Lizhengmen (丽正门), the gate was extensively damaged during the Boxer Uprising. See NA06-12.
