Caption on typed list accompanying the box of negatives: '43: Canal outside legation quarter'. Digitised from a negative made for a copy print.  This photograph is of the north end of 'The Jade River' canal outside the British Legation, Peking (Beijing), taken after the relief of the siege (Boxer Uprising), showing the North Bridge - and damaged buildings on the right. The 'Jade River Canal' is now Zhengyi Lu. See also BL-n012 and BL-n075.
