Caption in Index: 'Joint Savings Society Godown flying Chinese flag. Oct. 29, 1937.' The Joint Savings Society Godown (JSS or Sihang Warehouse 四行仓库) is on the left. The Continental Bank Godown is on the right. As viewed from a lumber yard in the International Settlement, across Suzhou Creek. The godowns were the location of part of the Battle of Shanghai, as dramatised in the (historically inaccurate) blockbuster film 'The Eight Hundred' (八佰 Ba Bai). See JM02-071, JM04-101 and JM04-103.
