University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: NA27-02. Sir West Ridgeway’s Chinese labour scheme with the British North Borneo Company. The forwarding company of Messrs. Forbes & Company of Tianjin was engaged to transport a first batch of families (430 people) to Sabah, Borneo (Malaysia). The group was accompanied by Dr Sia Tien Bao (Xie Tanbao).
