到延安路上,过长云山 / 1944 / On the route to Yenan. Crossing snowy mountains. Have to stay on a narrow track. Everywhere else icy + v. slippery. One animal (mule) broke his leg. Decided to kill it, give everyone v. good meal. ML + HL's cook helped prepare it. Husband + wife who had owned the mule refused to eat it.
