Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Bk04-02. Source: 'The Pageant of Peking' by Donald Mennie (A.S.Watson and Co., Shanghai, 1920). A view at the New Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), Peking (Beijing). The building on the left is the Pavilion of Precious Clouds, also known as the Bronze Pavilion (宝云阁), which was made entirely of cast bronze in 1755. The Bronze Pavilion survived the 1860 burning. The doors and windows were looted following the Boxer Uprising, but purchased and donated back to the Summer Palace in the 1980s. See also Bk04-35.
