Old blockhouse at Mudu, near Suzhou

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Da01-09.  This building could be the remains of fort dating from the Taiping rebellion (1850-1864)? Mutu or Mo-tu (Mudu), near Soochow (Suzhou).  From an album inscribed to H. Wilcockson from C. E. Darwent. The Revd. C.E.
