University of Bristol – Historical Photographs of China reference number: HR01-020. Fort-Bayard (now Zhanjiang), Kouang-Tchéou-Wan or Kouang Tcheou Wan (Guangzhouwan). The "Pink ‘Un" was a colloquial name for a newspaper printed on pink paper, for example: The Sporting Times, The Fanling Sporting Times (which was published in Hong Kong), Financial Times. Probably the house depicted here was painted in a pink or pinkish colour. See HR01-019 (a photograph taken at the same house).
