University of Bristol – Historical Photographs of China reference number: HR01-036. The 'Likin' was a revenue cruiser operated by the Imperial Maritime Customs Service. In the centre of this photograph is William Hoy. Hoy, from Sunderland, sailed for Hong Kong in June 1909. He was a draughtsman at Taikoo Dockyard and Engineering Company. Hoy returned to the UK in September/October 1914 via Canada, presumably to join up.
