Photograph taken by Malcolm Rosholt at a National Army (Kuomintang) passing out parade, attended by the press, in south west China, during the Second World War. General Cai Tingkai (蔡廷锴 ; Tsai TingKai ; Ts'ai T'ing-k'ai) (1892-1968) was the commander of the 19th Route Army of the Republic of China’s National Revolutionary Army (from 1930 to 1933), involved in the Shanghai War of 1932, as well as the Fujian Incident.
