University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Ro-n0106.  The negative strip has been perforated with the number 122[...].  This perforation may have happened when the 35mm film was manufactured, to indicate a batch reference number.  Alternatively the negative was damaged by the photo lab that processed it (the reference number 122[...] maybe referring to the customer order number).  Later the negative was marked up for cropping, prior to publication.  The soldier has posed for a set up photograph.  See Ro-n0102, Ro-n0103, Ro-n0104, Ro-n0105.
