Carrall Family Collection

Some of the 248 images in the Carrall Family Collection were taken by Maude Carrall (1882-1949) or by Muriel Carrall (1880-1943), daughters of James Wilcocks Carrall (1849-1902), whose long career (1868-1902) in the Imperial Maritime Customs Service, culminated as Commissioner of Customs in Chefoo (Yantai). The images are from two albums (HPC refs: Ca01 and Ca02) and loose prints (HPC ref: Ca-s) now held by Special Collections, Queen’s University Belfast. The album referenced as Ca01 belonged, it seems, to Maude Carrall, whilst the album Ca02 was compiled by Muriel Carrall.
