Morrison, Hedda Collection

The addition here of nearly 4,700 photographs from 28 albums of Hedda Morrison’s photographs of north China, held at the Harvard-Yenching Library, is tremendously exciting. Taken roughly between 1933 and 1946, the Hedda Morrison Collection provides an astonishing record of life in north China at this time. The Harvard-Yenching Library also hold a further 10,000 negatives that are not included here. More information about the photographs and Morrison's life and work can be found in her books, for example: A Photographer in Old Peking (1985), and Travels of a Photographer in China, 1933-1946 (1987).
