University of Bristol Library Collection
This collection includes China-related items held by Special Collections, University of Bristol Library, prior to 2006. The library’s collection of photographic material relating to China and Hong Kong has grown since the Historical Photographs of China project (2006-2021) began (search on the Online Archive Catalogue). The library holds five photograph albums (DM2520) thought to have once been owned by Professor Sidney Hugh Reynolds (1867-1949). Some of the photographs in DM2520/1 were taken in China, 1880s and 1890s (HPC ref: UB01). The University of Bristol Library Collection also includes three images from magic lantern slides in DM3194 (HPC ref: UB-m), an image from a negative in DM1584/1 (HPC ref: UB-n) and images from loose photographs in DM3113 and DM3131 (HPC ref: UB-s).
