The 67th (South Hants) Regiment of Foot successfully stormed the North Taku Fort on 21 August 1860, an engagement which quickly led to the fall of Tianjin and the end of the Second Opium War. The regiment spent four years in China, later supporting the Qing against the Taiping rebels.
